This charming townhouse was divided a few years ago and now offers an extraordinary property in the heart of Artà as well as a small shop on the ground floor.
As soon as you reach the entrance area, you realize this is not an everyday property.
A small “hall” used as a garage before, forms the entrance for the two owners.
This townhouse is divided into two providing each owner with an apartment over several floors, each with a private roof terrace.
The front half of the townhouse is fully furnished and can be moved into immediately.
A staircase leads to the first floor which has a spacious living area with a small seating area, an open-plan kitchen, and a fireplace. There is also a guest toilet.
The next floor is a private area, which has a large bedroom and a bathroom.
Another staircase leads to the roof terrace with a seating area, daybed, and a view over the roofs of the city to the monastery mountain of Sant Salvador.
The traditional Mallorcan town of Artà is located in the middle of a wide valley at the foot of a small mountain in the northeast of Mallorca. The town centre has been largely converted into a pedestrian area.
Arta is overlooked by the fortified Santuari Sant Salvador, one of the town’s main attractions. The holy site and its walls were originally built in the 14th century and then reconstructed in the 19th century.
The area around Artà is known for its pottery production and basket weaving. Archaeological excavations – such as the Talayotic settlement of Ses Paisses – have revealed woven fibers, indicating that this craft is one of the oldest on the island.
A walk through the ramparts of the Islamic castle of Almudaina d’Artà offers wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. There are several beaches in the vicinity and the travel to them is just as beautiful as the beaches themselves. The Cuevas d’Artà stalactite caves on the coast are also worth a visit.
Artà is home to two markets. The general market on the Plaça del Conqueridor and the handicrafts market on the Villa Na Batlessa property. Both take place on Tuesday mornings and are particularly popular with foreign residents.
Palma can be reached in about an hour’s drive.
